Installing the DNS Servers

Requirements

SolusVM Reverse DNS Servers require the following specification:

2 Virtual Servers of the specification below:

  • CentOS 5+ based linux operating system
  • At least one external IP address
  • /24 range IP block

Install

In SSH as root do the following:

wget http://soluslabs.com/installers/solusvm/install
chmod 755 install
./install

You will now be presented with the following menu as illustrated below:

Select option 4

Wait for the install to finish and you will be presented with a ID and KEY, keep these safe!.

Repeat this process for the second dns server.

Configuration

Login to your SolusVM master and select Configuration >> DNS Servers

You will be presented with the following form:

Fill in all the fields including the ID and Key fields and select both forward and reverse dns tick boxes, then click Add. Repeat this for the second dns server.


Now select IP Blocks from the SolusVM menu. For each block you want to use these dns servers for, you need to click 'edit ip block' and select Default from the DNS Server Group field and click update block. All blocks that are set to this group will use your dns servers.


** Important ** Each IP Block must only contain ip addresses from the same subnet!
